Tainan, Taiwan, April 6, 2016

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan and Moscow State University in Russia recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for joint research and development of medical device innovation.

The cooperation will not only facilitate academic research and technology innovation but also recruit Russian students to study biomedical engineering in Taiwan.

Also, NCKU will set up a medical device research center in Russia.

NCKU’s Medical Device Innovation Center (MDIC) has been working on integrating its research team, partner enterprises, venture capital firms and NCKU medical center to identify the unmet clinical needs and accordingly invent several value-oriented medical devices.

With strong partnership for years, NCKU and Moscow State University decided to officially sign MoU to mark another milestone in long standing collaboration between two universities.

According to MDIC, the collaborative efforts will start from research on operators performing minimally invasive surgery.

The education of science, especially mechanics, at Moscow State University is very solid and NCKU has the resources from medical school and hospital. The partnership is expected to bring mutual and complementary benefits.
