The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and Taiwan Comprehensive University System (TCUS) signed cooperative agreements on August 4 at a press conference in Taipei.

ITRI president Shyu Jyuo-Min and TCUS honorary chancellor Paul Ching-Wu Chu signed the agreement on behalf of the both institutes.

Started from 2015, the 3-year agreements will facilitate academic cooperation and collaboration as research and development projects.

Under the agreement, both parties will invest their resources and talents in developing projects centered on 3D-printing and micro smart manufacturing.

TCUS established in 2012 is an alliance formed by National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU), National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), and National Chung Cheng University (CCU).

Chairman of ITRI Chin-Yen Tsay and the four presidents of TCUS allied universities were also attended the signing ceremony, including NCKU president Hwung-Hweng Hwung, NSYSU president Hung-Duen Yang, NCHU president Der Tsai Lee, and CCU president Jyh-Yang Wu.

TCUS honorary chancellor Chu said, “TCUS has integrated four universities’ strengths in the fields of medical machinery, marine biology, agricultural biotechnology, and social sciences to further develop integrated research projects in 3 research theme areas - new frontier materials, bio-medical engineering, and advanced marine resources.”

ITRI has been cooperated with NCKU in developing micro nano technology for a long period of time and will extend its collaborative efforts to TCUS as the agreement targeting mutual research interests in laminated object manufacturing and micro smart manufacturing.
