Professor Ji-Sen Hwang of earth and life science at University of Taipei entrusted by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to visit National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, for environmental inspection to strengthen dengue prevention and control on campus.

Professor Hwang arrived at NCKU on the morning of September 14 and accompanied by staff carried out inspections for breeding sites.

He said that NCKU did well in working as a community to respond to the dengue threat.

NCKU has dealt with an outbreak of dengue fever on campus since early August and an on-going campaign against dengue to engage communities against dengue has proven effective.

We will remain vigilant and continue to implement the campus cleanup vector mosquito breeding sources and most importantly work as a community to respond to the dengue threat, said Professor Tzen-Yuh Chiang from the Department of Life Sciences at NCKU.

The MOE will organize a national demonstration on dengue prevention at NCKU to offer a training program to promote school health education and prevention of dengue fever advocacy activities.
