NCKU and the Kaohsiung City Government signed a MOU to announce the new Kaohsiung branch of the university's Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing

Huey-Jen Su expressed that the function of a university is to prepare its students to become innovative talents. With sustainable manufacturing as the core spirit, the Academy incorporates Artificial Intelligence in data science, focusing on important topics such as low carbon emission and low energy consumption. Establishing a branch of the Academy in the Asia New Bay Area is NCKU’s response to the society, as the university creates new innovative possibilities and contributes its academic power to make Taiwan and the world a better place.

Chi-Mai Chen expressed that the Tainan City and Kaohsiung City are inseparable partners in terms of the development of southern Taiwan. As the most resourceful university in academic-industry collaborations, NCKU has over half of its industrial partners leading companies in Kaohsiung. Chi-Mai Chen emphasized that not only is the NCKU Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing the first national-level scientific research academy located in the Asia New Bay Area, it also brings a comprehensive research environment that can connect the innovative bases in the area. In the future, the Asia New Bay Area alone will be sufficient to serve as a complete pipeline for innovative technologies such as 5G and AIoT.

The talents cultivated through the NCKU Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing will become a crucial force for its collaborating companies such as the TSMC, Delta Electronics, ASE Technology, and Yageo Corporation. The Academy is set to deliver 5 professional degree programs including Program on Integrated Circuit Design, Program on Semiconductor Technology, Program on Semiconductor Packaging and Testing, Program on Key Materials, and Program on Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing.
