NCKU Mixed Relay Race entered its fourth day of preliminaries, participating teams showcased outstanding teamwork and youthful energy.
The preliminary rounds of the 2026 NCKU Mixed Relay entered their fourth day yesterday (May 21), with the competitive heat at the Kuang-Fu Campus track reaching its peak. A total of 18 teams took to the track in consecutive heats, delivering high-intensity performances accompanied by raucous support from the sidelines.NCKU Vice President Shyy-Woei Chang attended the event to show support for the competing students and faculty. In the pre-race address, he emphasized that the competition should be viewed as an extension of daily physical fitness rather than a high-stakes outcome. "The primary objective of these games is to encourage students to integrate regular exercise into their daily lives," Chang noted, adding that building a healthy physique and maintaining absolute safety on the track far outweigh the final scoreboard results.
A defining highlight of Day 4 was the prominent presence of "PE Class Coalitions." Of the 18 competing teams, more than half drew their names from their physical education classes, underscoring the powerful community-building aspect of NCKU’s sports curriculum. Because elective physical education courses naturally draw students from various majors, they have become the perfect catalyst for breaking down academic silos and fostering cross-college collaboration.
"Super Runaway Bounty Hunter Meow" (超強暴走賞金獵人喵) delivered an outstanding performance
The day’s action opened with a standout performance from the uniquely named team, "Super Runaway Bounty Hunter Meow" (超強暴走賞金獵人喵). The squad lived up to their striking title by showcasing explosive speed on the track, comfortably securing first place in the opening heat. Team captain Peng Wei-shan, a graduate student from the Institute of Microbiology and Immunology, explained that the creative name reflected the team's underlying confidence. "We chose this fun name simply because everyone was highly confident in their own running abilities," Peng said with a smile following their victory.
The fierce preliminary competition culminates today (May 22) in the final round of qualifiers. Track enthusiasts and spectators are eagerly waiting to see which elite squads will break through the ranks to claim a highly coveted spot in the Top 24 Finals, scheduled for June 8. The entire NCKU community—students, faculty, and staff—is warmly invited to gather at the Kuang-Fu Campus track to witness the final heats of the 2026 NCKU Mixed Relay and cheer on the athletes as they make their final push for glory.
