Paving the Way for Global Talents at NCKU: Establishment of Chong Hong Culture & Education Foundation Chair Professor

Wen-Tsao Lee established the “Chong Hong Culture & Education Foundation Chair Professor” at his alma mater NCKU
 
Wen-Tsao Lee, President of CHONG HONG CONSTRUCTION and alumnus of NCKU Department of Civil Engineering, established the “Chong Hong Culture & Education Foundation Chair Professor” at his alma mater, National Cheng Kung University, to support its College of Engineering and College of Planning and Design in terms of recruiting professors who have outstanding research projects and can contribute to the university’s global influence. This donation aims to encourage key research with international visibility and is expected to attract more cross-domain integration talents to cultivate the new generation of elites at NCKU.
 
Wen-Tsao Lee received the NCKU Distinguished Alumni Award in 2019. He grew up in a single-parent family without much resources, but his determination to study and make a career remained unwavering. He pulled himself through university studies by working part-time, and with his integrity he drew recognition from the society for his work in civil engineering.
 
In the coming era of digitalization and globalization, the foundation dedicates itself to boosting innovations in education. With two million TWD each year for five years, the donation tallies up to 10 million TWD in total. The donation will help support the College of Engineering and the College of Planning and Design in terms of recruiting international scholars or those who have outstanding research, aiming to enhance the university’s global influence. The professors who receive the support will hold open academic lectures and participate in academic events to share their research results, fostering the academia environment in NCKU and contributing to the university’s fulfillment of USR.
 
Fong-Chin Su, Executive Vice President of NCKU, expressed that the Tainan City is a cultural hub welcoming people at different milestones in life. With the Southern Taiwan Science Park and support of the government, the city stands firm as a key site for cultivating elites in education and research of different fields. Establishing the Chong Hong Culture & Education Foundation Chair Professor at NCKU will undoubtedly boost the university to a higher level of international recognition and will attract global talents to NCKU, paving the way for the grand future of the university’s hundred years of history!
