In response to the COVID-19 spread, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has postponed the dates of the Advanced Subjects Test (AST). National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has postponed the first day of classes in its Fall Semester 2021 to September 15. Final examinations for regular courses will be conducted from January 10 to 14, 2022. The semester length is 18 weeks. Courses on Mondays and Tuesdays will have insufficient hours, therefore, instructors are required to make up the course hours during the semester (online teaching or in-classroom).

In the event that MOE announces another postponement of the AST, classes will begin on September 15 for current students and first-year graduate students; first-year undergraduate students will begin class 15 days after the school admissions announcement of AST.

A total of 41,321 examinees registered for the AST this year, which is 2,432 people less than the previous year and also a new low. Under the influence of the COVID-19 infections, the MOE has postponed the AST to July 28 to 30. Test results will be announced in mid-August, and the list of school admissions will be published on August 31.
