NCKU Industrial Design Graduation Show Began on May 2nd
Tainan, Taiwan, May 3rd, 2010
The annual NCKU Industrial Design Graduation Show began on May 2nd to May 7th in the basement gallery, Main Library of National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan.
The exhibition includes 25 creative design works on medical treatment, fitness, entertainment, family products, household items, etc. The designers will also explain the context of their works to the visitors. After the exhibition, the design works will be transferred to Taipei World Trade between May 21st and May 24th to participate in a national design exhibition along with design works from other institutions.
Among the works of this year’s graduation class, the curvy scissors created by students Sheng-Hong Li and You-Lin Chen have received International Forum Design Hannover-Universal Design Award, the Oscar in the design industry. The curvy scissors has also passed the patent application and the techniques will be transferred to factories for production in the future.
By observing the medical actions people need to take upon injuries, the two students have created an innovative and convenient first aid kit, which includes the award-winning curvy scissors, flashlight, disinfection equipments, on drug tools, binding materials and tape dispensers. The first aid kit has integrated home security and aesthetics into daily life.
The opening ceremony of NCKU Industrial Design Graduation Show began at 1:30pm, May 2nd, in B1 Conference Room, Main Library of National Cheng Kung University, inviting all the graduating students.
“The graduation show this year has moved to Cheng-Kung Campus, the most historical campus in NCKU. With the spirit of never forgetting one’s origins, students are giving tribute to their alma mater. We welcome families and children and anyone who’s interested to come and attend the exhibition,” said Chung-Ming Cheng, the Main Convenor of NCKU Industrial Design Graduation Show.
The graduation show has also organized three lectures, inviting designers from different fields to share their unique creative perspectives. The first lecture is held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on May 2nd in B1 Conference Room, Main Library at NCKU, with the speaker Wei-Shen Yi, Brand Director of Afterain Corporation. The second lecture is held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on May 4th in Cheng-Wei Conference Room, Department of Geomatics at NCKU, with the speaker Kuo-Chang Liu, Host of Opening United Studio. The third lecture is held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on May 6th in Cheng-Wei Conference Room, Department of Geomatics at NCKU, with the speaker Cola King, a renowned illustrator. The three speakers are design maters from the fields of industrial design, architecture and graphic design.
