With the start of a new school year, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) welcomes its new members to move into the dormitories.

NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su visited the dormitories on September 4 to ensure they are free from mosquito-breeding grounds and away from any possible threats of dengue.

Welcoming students back to school, NCKU took serious efforts to combat the epidemic and response prevention initiative, including campus cleanup, propaganda, education and understanding of dengue fever for people in the university community.

President Su accompanied by the staff members visited four dormitories - Sheng-Li 8, Ching-Yeh 1, Kuang-Fu 1, and Kuang-Fu 2 - on September 4.

She talked to news students' parents and showed them the satisfactory results against dengue on campus.

Since mid-August, President Su has had all school personnel mobilize to implement a campus-wide cleanup to raise awareness of dengue and disseminate information on the prevention and control of dengue.

Though the environment has been cleaned up and sprayed insecticides to help control the spread of dengue, the staff at the dormitories sprayed insecticides again before the new students came in.

To protect the students, President Su also instructed the staff to prepare mosquito repellent around the public areas for the students to apply to their clothing and shoes.

Dengue control and outbreak notices posted on every doors and the notice board as well to remind the students ways to fight dengue and raise awareness of dengue prevention, according to President Su.
