As one of the oldest schools in Taiwan, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is committed to preserve its rich historical and architectural heritage while conserving resources. A recent renovation project of historic building at NCKU receives the 15th Public Construction Golden Quality Award, which is the highest recognition for public infrastructures in Taiwan.

The winning historic site, located at Kung-Fu Campus, is originally the compounds of the Japanese army’s Taiwanese infantry second platoon, which was established in 1911 during the Japanese colonial period.

Currently, the historic building is a new home for the Department of Industrial Design.

The staff of the university closely working with the architects and manufacturers has endeavored to achieve high quality in construction and meet the requirement of green building.

Also, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is set up for sustainable design.
