On July 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced an extension to the nationwide COVID-19 Level 3 epidemic alert until July 26. National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) continues to implement Level 3 alert policies in accordance with the government policies to protect the community.

Effective June 7, 2021, Changes in NCKU Library Services
Adjusted services for borrowing, returning and pick up items—
In response to the COVID-19 alert that has been extended to Level 3 nationwide effective until June 28, adjustments to library services are as follows.
1.Library services will be adjusted from Thursday, May 20 to Monday, June 28.
2.Main library and medical Library:
(1) Service hours: 8:20 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, closed Saturday and Sunday.
(2) Availability:
i. Information desks in Main Library and Medical Library will only be available for pickup. Reading area and any stack in the libraries will be closed.
ii. Main entrance and exit door on the 1st floor will be marked for single entry and exit. The entrance and exit doors on B1 and B3 will be closed. No more than three people at any one time can be presented in Main Library.
iii. No more than three people at any one time can be presented in Medical Library.
KnowLEDGE will be closed from 8 p.m. May 19 to 8 a.m. June 29, 2021.
3.Library Services
(1) Request your items via our online catalog, normally you will be notified by E-mail within 1 business day. You may also return books, pay for overdue fines, work on the graduation clearance process, thesis/dissertation submission, and pick up the requested articles via interlibrary loan.
(2) The collections that can be reserved online are only limited to the holdings in Main Library and Medical Library. The request to the holdings in departmental libraries and closed stack will not be processed for the time being, please cancel if the reservation has been made.
(3)The due date to pick up the reserved books has been extended to Wednesday, July 7.
(4) During the period of NCKU's implementation of Campus Entry Restrictions, the use of the library services is restricted to current NCKU students, faculty and staff. The expiry date of library card that is after May 19 will be extended accordingly once the libraries reopen to the public.

4.Library access
We will only offer the adjusted services at the information desk in Main Library and Medical Library. Entering the library will not be allowed.
5.Loan period
(1) The due date of the checked-out items has been extended to July 14, 2021.
(2) The overdue items (due date: May 18) can be returned either using an outdoor drop box or by parcel delivering. The grace period will be extended from Wednesday, May 19 to Tuesday, July 13.
6.Readers that are presented at the information desk should wear masks at all times. If having fever with a temperature above 37.5, do not come to the library and please seek for medical attention.
7.To access electronic resources off campus, please refer to the instruction to set up VPN.

6.Photocopies of library held journal articles
(1) The service will be only limited to the printed journals held at the NCKU Library.
(2) The service is only available to current NCKU students, faculty and staff.
(3) You can send your request online 24/7.

(5) Send your request through the NDDS (Nationwide Document Delivery Service). First time users should register before using the system. You will be notified by email within 2 business days for the approval to login the system.
(6) The requested items will be sent via E-mail.
(7) Restrictions: According to Article 48 of the Copyright Act, this service is provided solely for the purpose of research and private study. Only a single article from a periodical can be reproduced and the copy is limited to one copy per person. Anything not specified here regarding to this service will be subject to the governance of Article 65 of the Copyright Act. (Please refer to the webpage of the Propagation of Intellectual Property Rights Compliance)
7.The following library services will be temporarily unavailable:
(1) Book donation.
(2) Theses, dissertations, and special collections that cannot be checked out.
(3) Closed stack collection request.
(4) Request for books via interlibrary loan.
All the prevention measures will be updated according to the regulation of Central Epidemic Command Center and NCKU.
