NCKU Celebrates Anniversary with Three Award Ceremonies

National Cheng Kung University celebrates its ninety years of history in 2021. On November 11, joyous spirits filled the air of the Ge-Chi Hall as the university held three award ceremonies consecutively on the same day. The ceremonies today included the Honorary Doctorate Conferment Ceremony, The Kwoh-Ting Li Awards Ceremony, and the Distinguished Alumni Award Ceremony, honoring a total of 19 awardees, sharing joy and honor with all NCKU figures.
At the Honorary Doctorate Conferment Ceremony, Ping Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Delta Electronics, received the degree from Huey-Jen Jenny Su, President of NCKU. Ping Cheng is recognized for his creativity and innovative spirit, leading Delta Electronics and Taiwan industry to take on the promise to fulfill sustainable development for the world. During Ping Cheng’s lead, Delta Electronics saw continuous growth and has gradually transformed to become a distinguished industrial brand. In recent years, Delta Electronics and NCKU have had frequent collaborations, fostering academic-industrial connections and contributing to the growth of future generations.
Cheng Ping receives the Honorary Doctorate
The Kwoh-Ting Li Awards this year honor 8 scholars with outstanding achievements in fields including technology, humanities, innovation, research and development. Charles Lin, Distinguished Professor at the Dept. of Earth Sciences, Yeau-Ren Jeng Chair Professor at the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering, Chuan-Pu Liu, Distinguished Professor at the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering, and Kuei-Sen Hsu, Professor at the Dept. of Pharmacology, received the Kwoh-Ting Li Honorary Scholar Award this year. Kuo-Hsing Kao, Associate Professor at the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, and Steven Yueh Jen Lai, Associate Professor at the Dept. of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering, received the Kwoh-Ting Li Researcher Award. Shih-kang Lin, Associate Professor at the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering, and Chih-Lung Lin, Distinguished Professor at the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, received the Kwoh-Ting Li Technology Gold Medal Award.

NCKU has cultivated numerous outstanding alumni in its 90 years of history, and these alumni helped the world become a better place. The NCKU Distinguished Alumni Award honors the alumni who are making changes for the betterment of each of their fields. This year, the 10 recipients are Deng-Li Chen, Founder of VICTOR RACKETS IND. CORP., Lain-Jer Chang, Retired professor in Aletheia University, Houng Sun, The Chairman and President of Mirle Automation Corporation, Fwu-Shing Lin, Vice Chairman of Fubon Life Insurance Co., Ltd., Chian-Sern Chang, Chairman and General Manager of Transcom Inc, Malone Chang, Lead architect at MAYU Architects, Harry Yang, General Manager of Medical Devices Business Group of Qisda Co. Ltd., Han-Chung Wu, Director of the Biomedical Translation Research Center (BioTReC) at Academia Sinica, Chia-Yuan Chang, CTO, VP&GM of Quanta Computer Inc., and Pao-Chuan Yeh, Vice superintendent of the Hsin-Ann Hospital.
