National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has once again ranked 1st as enterprise’s favorite college students, as shown in the 2024 Enterprises’ Favorite College Students Survey Rankings. The survey was conducted by Cheers Magazine, and the rankings were released on January 11. For three consecutive years, the top 10 spots of the rankings were taken by the same universities with slight changes in the positions. These universities receive stable recognition in the industry. The 2024 ranking is led by NCKU, followed by National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chengchi University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Central University, National Taipei University of Technology, and Tamkang University.
NCKU students are once again ranked first place of enterprise favorites in the Cheers Magazine 2024 Enterprises’ Favorite College Students Survey Rankings
The survey targeted the human resources managers of the Taiwan top 2000 enterprises included in the CommonWealth Magazine’s Taiwan Top 2000 lists. The survey lasted from November 6 to 9, 2023. A total of 3008 survey invitations were sent out and 914 responses were received, with the response rate at 30.39%.
Respondents were asked to rank the top 3 universities in terms of nine indices: professional knowledge and technical skills, international perspective and foreign language skills, high learning will and plasticity, high stress resistance and stability, innovative ability, interpersonal communication and teamwork spirit, problem-solving ability and high adaptability, connecting interdisciplinary knowledge, and the ability to utilize digital tools. The rating system gives three points to the universities ranked first, two points to those ranked second, and one point to those ranked third. The scores were standardized across each university before the total score was calculated. The final ranking was determined based on the total score.
NCKU is ranked high among the top five industries
In the survey, it was pointed out that depending one’s career solely on diploma does not guarantee a smooth sailing job-hunt, despite that the university sets the crucial scene for shaping professional talents. According to the survey, 48.4% of HR management agree that an employee’s diploma would lose its “bonus points” status within four years on the job. This suggests that, though not useless, diplomas have an “expiration date.” In the end, a person’s character and potential are the winning factors that determine the outcomes of the career marathon.
Further survey asked for ability cultivation suggestions from enterprises for university students. It was found that problem-solving ability was ranked the most important, and communication skills and teamwork spirit are valued more compared to last year’s survey. Self-teaching ability was considered one of the top 5 most important traits. This signifies that in an industry environment with higher uncertainty, those who work well with others and continue to self-improve will see more opportunities to shine.
