President Lai Invited Parents to Witness NCKU Transformation
Tainan, Taiwan, March 12th, 2010
To strengthen the relationship between university and parents and to enhance their understanding of the school, NCKU 2010 Parents’ Day is held on March 13th, inviting more than 600 students’ parents to join.
Prior to the annual event, President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai published an article titled “Sustainable Leap: The Recollection and Outlook of the Three Years of Presidency” on March 12th and shared his ideas on school management for next year, allowing the students’ parents to better understand the past and future of NCKU and to personally examine and witness its developments and transformation.
President Lai mentioned in the article, the ranking of NCKU in the assessment of university research achievements has made significant progress in recent years. The campus environment has transformed as well. Numerous art works are being displayed and activity space such as International Conference Hall, Student Activity Center and Cheng-Kung Hall are being renovated towards perfection as well. The academia-industry collaboration achievements of NCKU have also impressed many people. However, the improvement on software and humanities is the ultimate goal in the future.
NCKU 2010 Parents’ Day is organized by the Office of Academic Affairs. The opening ceremony from 10am to 11am, in the Cheng-Kung Hall of Kuang-Fu Campus, is hosted by Vice-President of Academic Affairs Ming-Jer Tang. The following two lectures from 11:10am to 12pm, in the 1st and 2nd Lecture Rooms of International Conference Hall, are delivered by NCKU Art Center Director Qiong-Rui Hsiao and NCKU College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry Professor Yen-Kuang Yang. The discussion time from 2pm to 5pm is led by President Lai, faculty members, student representatives and 25 departments. On the day of the event, student dormitories are opened for the parents to visit as well.
