NCKU Won Government Service Quality Award from MOE, Taiwan

National Cheng Kung University and National Cheng Kung University Hospital have won 2009 Government Service Quality Award from the Ministry of Education (MoE), Taiwan, with four other MoE affiliated institutions.

The six awarded institutions are National Cheng Kung University, National Cheng Kung University Hospital, National Museum of Natural Science, National Institute of Educational Resources and Research, National Taiwan University Hospital and National Chiayi University. National Cheng Kung University and National Taiwan University Hospital are recommended by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan, to participate in the final evaluation of The Second Executive Yuan Service Quality Award.

National Cheng Kung University has consecutively won 2008 Government Service Quality Award and 2009 Government Service Quality Award. NCKU administrative team and staffs have devoted themselves to improve the service quality, teaching standard, campus environment, administrative system, service procedures and hardware equipments of the university, hoping to reach the goal of a comprehensive, high quality and innovative service.

NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai believed, situated in downtown of Tainan City, National Cheng Kung University is part of the community. NCKU has removed most of the walls which surrounded the campus. It has become part of the community which provides service to students, parents as well as civilians. National Cheng Kung University is the only national university which organizes Parents’ Meeting. The concept of service is to provide service to teachers, students, civilians and community, share school resources with the society and cultivate talents together.

The 2009 Government Service Quality Award ceremony, hosted by Minister of Education Dr. Ching-Ji Wu, was held on April 22nd in National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, Taipei. NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai has personally attended the ceremony and accepted the award. NCKU Secretary General Dr. Woei-Shyan Lee has also made a report on the performance of NCKU in elevating service quality.

The Executive Yuan Service Quality Award was established in 1996 to recognize government agencies that provide high quality service. This award encourages the enhancement of government service quality. The new standards for the enhancement of overall government service quality such as government information accessibility and resource/service integration methods have been redefined in 2008.
