British Delegation Visited NCKU For Future Cooperation

Tainan, Taiwan, April 28th, 2011
A British delegation from Imperial College London (ICL), led by Rector Keith O’Nions, visited Taiwan’s National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) on April 28th to discuss possible future cooperation.
Rector Keith O’Nions, who visited Taiwan and NCKU for the first time, praised NCKU to be a distinguished university in Southern Taiwan and looked forward to establish partnership with the university.
Last year, Imperial College London partnered with Moon Regan Transantarctic Expedition to carry out scientific experiments in Antarctica and Winston Wong, a prominent Taiwanese entrepreneur and alumnus of Imperial College London, has been the major sponsor of the Expedition.
“The Expedition has increased our knowledge of the impact of global climate change on the South Pole, a subject which both ICL and NCKU are interested in,” said NCKU President Hwung-Hweng Hwung. “Environmental issues may be the first step of future cooperation.”
With the famous Winston Wong Bio-Inspired Ice Vehicle scheduled to exhibit at NCKU next month, Hwung believed this opportunity can increase the possibility of future cooperation between the two universities.
According to Winston Wong, the exhibition will allow NCKU to have a deeper understanding of the strengths of United Kingdom and Europe as a whole.
In addition, BTCO Director David Campbell suggested that ICL and NCKU could jointly develop new technology and find new alternative energy for the sake of people’s health and our earth.
