Announcement Regarding the Protest of Associate Professor Wi-vun Taiffalo Chiung

On May 24, 2011, Associate Professor Wi-vun Taiffalo Chiung of Department of Taiwanese Literature made a protest against Taiwanese literary writer Huang Chunming in regards to his speech about the Taiwanese language education. The event caused many concerns in the past few days.
The opinion expressed and the behavior enacted was Chiung’s alone. This University respects freedom of expression and freedom of academic research. More importantly, it upholds that its faculty be the academic role model and fulfill the social expectation of such a role.
