President Shen Meng-Ru visited Malaysia and was warmly welcomed by the NCKU Alumni Association Penang.
President Meng-Ru Shen(沈孟儒)of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) visited Penang, Malaysia, and met with the alumni of NCKU on September 12. President Shen says, the alumni of NCKU are spread across the globe, united by strong bonds and a sense of belonging, showcasing warmth and the profound affection they hold for their alma mater.
President Shen made a special visit to ACKU Metal Industries (Malaysia) SDN BHD. In the 1980s, the Malaysian Chinese community actively mobilized resources for industrial and commercial development. The NCKU Alumni Association also initiated the establishment of a business organization. Through the alumni association, alumni resources and capabilities are hoped to lead to benefit and profit to both the alumni and the association, which marks the origin of NCKU Holdings.

President Shen remarked on the impressive visit to ACKU Metal Industries. The company has grown significantly from industrial to land development, entirely by the support of NCKU alumni. It is similar to the operation of the Phoenix Fund, which alumni act as shareholders, investing in the startups of fellow NCKU graduates. It is expected that the visit to ACKU Metal Industries would further strengthen alumni understanding of the university's development.
Lo Wei-Cheng(羅偉誠)is the NCKU Secretary-General and Director of the Alumni Associated Center. He provided an update on the current state of the university and its fundraising goals. The nine colleges at NCKU, along with Miin Wu School of Smart Computing and the Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing, currently have a graduate-to-undergraduate ratio of 48:52. This demonstrates NCKU's commitment to academic excellence. Lo says that alumni support is eagerly anticipated in interdisciplinary research, attracting international talent, student welfare, green energy initiatives, enhancing fitness facilities, and promoting the well-being of faculty and students. It is hoped that as NCKU approaches its centennial milestone, alumni will join forces with NCKU in its efforts.
