International guests at FHED 2025
The Medical Device Innovation Center (MDIC) at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) hosted the 2025 International Conference on Future Healthcare and Economic Development (FHED) from November 17 to 21, 2025. The event brought together academic, industrial, and clinical experts from 16 countries, including Taiwan, Bangladesh, the Czech Republic, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam, to explore topics such as how AI affects healthcare technologies, healthcare sustainability, talent cultivation, and social responsibility. Through strong interactions among international participants, the FHED conference aims to build a global platform that accelerates AI-driven healthcare innovation, strengthens international cooperation, and supports the development of resilient, sustainable health ecosystems worldwide.

The conference commenced with opening remarks delivered by Distinguished Professor Shyy-Woei Chang, Executive Vice President of NCKU, Professor Hsiu-Chi Cheng, Dean of the NCKU College of Medicine, and Professor Jing-Wei Lee, Superintendent of National Cheng Kung University Hospital.
Additionally, the invited special lecture was delivered by Distinguished Professor Pei-Jung Lu, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Taiwan. In his talk, titled “Building Taiwan’s Home-based Health Ecosystem: Policy, Technology, and Medical Care,” he presented Taiwan’s strategic direction for developing home-based healthcare technologies. His insights addressed policy development, regulatory frameworks, and clinical applications, with a strong emphasis on public health priorities and long-term medical sustainability.
Industry representatives, including Qisda, HippoScreen Neurotech Corp., and MedNEx Device, were invited to share insights on current industry developments and discuss strategic approaches to enhancing the resilience and sustainability of Taiwan’s biomedical and healthcare systems.
Biomedical engineering and medical experts from 16 countries presented updates on global biomedical and health technology trends. Their contributions are expected to drive new waves of innovation, strengthen interdisciplinary and international collaboration, and support Taiwan’s biomedical industry in expanding from local foundations to global markets. By bringing high-quality technologies and systems to the world, FHED aims to cultivate a dynamic innovation ecosystem that fosters regional prosperity and accelerates real-world implementation, ultimately expanding this successful model internationally.
